  • 2021 was selected to receive the prestigious national Silverberg Leadership Award from EL Education.  Featured speaker at EL Education’s National Conference.

  • 2018 Ken Houston (The Beautification Council), AEG, and Dana Turner have installed a washer & dryer to support our community to wash their uniforms for our students (SOOAKLAND, AEG, Oakland Kaiser Surgery department and anonymous people that donate detergent). East Oakland school celebrates receiving washer, dryer: 'It's huge for these children

  • 2014-Our campus received the AIR Health Award from the California Department of Education for our best practices for reducing asthma triggers on the campus. 

  • 2013- We were designated an OUSD Reading Reward School. 

  • Elected to the Superintendent’s Principal Advisory Committee; 2012-2014

  • 2012-State Superintendent of Instruction Tom Torlakson visited EnCompass and called us an example of a full-service community school he would like to replicate.

  • Presented with the “Outstanding Service Award” by Women’s Information Network; International Women’s Day, March 8, 2011

  • In December 2009, Principal Nguyen was honored by the Legal Justice Center as a "Community Hero" at the Breaking Bread for Social Justice Dinner. Dennis Archer, former justice of Michigan 

  • In October 2008, Mr. Mario Garcia she was one of four elementary teachers honored by Oakland Unified School District for a Teacher Quality Award. This award is given to teachers with consistently high achievement of students.

  • The Supreme Court, the Mayor of Detroit, and the President of the American Bar Association delivered the keynote address. 

  • In October 2006, EnCompass Academy was one of four schools in OUSD to receive a "Blue School" status for the academic acceleration of students, closing the achievement gap and overall API gains.
